About
n 1983-1984, Atari and GCC collaborated on the Atari 7800, a new game console offering advanced graphics and compatibility with Atari 2600 games.; To address the needs of existing Atari 5200 owners, Atari developed a prototype compatibility module called SLAM-PAM, designed by Gary Rubio. This module, which used a modified Atari 7800 motherboard, aimed to allow Atari 5200 consoles to play both 5200 and 7800 games.; Although the prototype was nearly complete, it never went into production, leaving the SLAM-PAM as an unfinished project.
