This handheld was made in 1990 by Bit Corp Korea to compete with the Nintendo GameBoy, which had been released two years earlier. In this year, minor advertising took place in magazines in which the Gamate boasted its 4-in-1 game cartridge that came with the console and in some advertisements, even mentioned that a colour version was on its way. The Gamate couldn't stand a chance against the GameBoy because of the GameBoy's far better games by well-known third party producers and of course all of the advertising that Nintendo could afford. The console is shaped a little like the Sega Game Gear (released the same year). There were apparently over 50 game titles available for the console but it is hard to tell exactly how many were actually released because of the scarcity of them. The system was
