they were used in Nintendo zone distribution boxes rigged with multiple ds' much like the download station ds',hence the Velcro on the back of the unit,as well as the foam pads to keep the ds from closing fully to enter sleep mode.; One notable feature is if this DS turn the ds on, it will only show a black screen, however it will play a ds cartridge if plugged in.
