This rare controller was made during the time in which Sony could not sell controllers with the vibration feature due to a legal battle with the company Immersion. This lead to sony announcing the SixAxis controller, which would not have rumble, and was the primary PlayStation 3 controller until 2007 with the introduction of the DualShock 3. During the period in which Sony was still in court with Immersion they also could not sell DualShock 2 controllers because the PlayStation 2 was still actively supported during this point in time.
