The Uchenik (Russian: Ученик 'pupil', 'student') is a camera from the Soviet Union, produced around the 1930s.[1] It is a sort of box camera, made from wood and card, with a patterned leatherette covering. It takes a 4.5x6cm picture, apparently on a plate. It has an 80mm meniscus lens named Monocle (Монокль), and an 'I' and 'T' shutter. Princelle attributes it to Artel Novaya Shkola of Leningrad,[2] which also made the Cyclocamera. Notes on that camera by Aidas Pikiotas state that the camera wor
