About
The Unitas[1] is a metal-bodied camera for exposures 24x30mm on 35mm film loaded in a special cassette, made just after the Second World War by Alexander Zsigmond in Vienna.[2] The body of the camera is a simple metal box, rectangular with rounded corners, and with a hinged door at the back. It is covered with a black crackle-finish, with a chromium- (or nickel-) plated edge around the door. 'Unitas' is embossed in the metal of the door, and there is a round 'AZ' logo painted on the lens-plate.
